Dewey Scout, n/k/a EXPO, is the first greyhound we adopted. My husband wasn't too sure about greyhounds until we met a few at the kennel. Expo pretty much picked us--I think he would have squeezed out the crate if he could have! He acts very proper, but gets a little crazy, too. He's skittish at times, but one of the sweetest boys that loves to cuddle in bed. Dad says he sets up our other boys, because occasionally I'll catch him red-handed with a napkin or sock that he's chewing on.
Nine months after adopting Expo, we got the itch to get another greyhound. You know what they say, "Greyhounds are like potato chips, you can't have just one!" We went looking for a female, but came home with a male named ODDBALL, f/k/a Odd Extention. He is a happy-go-lucky boy that dad affectionately calls "Goof Troop." Let's just say his name suits him... OB has to have his CT, couch time, with dad at night or he gets a little fussy and he'll chew just about anything he can get his mouth onto.
Well, break out the Calamine because ten months later, we started itching again! I saw BLUE, f/k/a Richie Blue, on our GPA/GO website. I e-mailed to get his story and found out he was a senior being returned after 5 years because elderly parents were moving into his home and he, along with a female, were returned so they wouldn't be in the way. (Hmmm-they got rid of 2 senior dogs to add 2 senior people...) Anyway, less than a week later we adopted Blue, ANOTHER MALE, and he's fit right in. He has a TON of energy--way more than the two that are SIX YEARS YOUNGER!!! He is a trash-troller and a toilet-drinker, but he's the only one of the three that gives kisses. Uh, maybe I should rethink accepting those kisses?? |
